Ever since he can recall, Wayne Harris has been color conscious. The brighter the color the more interested he became. He says that he has hardly ever worn sunglasses because they cut out the amazing spectrum of color that the world around us offers.
His painting began with the walls of his home six years ago. People thought he was crazy for painting one room six different colors. But wheh he finished, they liked it. He then began to paint stepping stones. He used bright colors on them of course and eventually moved on to designs which the neighbors loved.
Finally he moved on to canvas. Every one of his paintings are unique and special to him. He says that it bothers him when his favorites sell. Each painting is "an act of love" and treated as such. They are all orignal ideas and hand painted. His unique view of the world definately shines through every painting. His use of flourescent or bright colors is his way of showing you what he sees. A world of amazing beauty and color. Again all paintings are ORIGINAL. No lithographs.
Mr. Harris's studio is in Palm Springs, California; still a backyard for many of Hollywood's famous personalities. Palm Springs is one of the major scenes for contemporary mid-century modern artists and architects. Not limited to any one style Mr. Harris develops his own ideas which do not always agree with that that is rcognized in the art communnity. Those who view his work marvel at the bold use of bright, fluorescent and metallic paints; his work stands out in any room it occupied.
